Two New TV Station CPs to be Auctioned

By Michael Silbergleid

In a public notice the FCC has announced the auction of construction permits for two VHF commercial TV stations.  The first allotment is for channel DTV 4 Atlantic City, New Jersey and the other is channel DTV 5  allocated for Seaford, Delaware. The Public Notice refers to the event as Auction 90 and announces that the auction  will take place February 15, 2011.

“The Media Bureau recently amended the Post-Transition Table of DTV Allotments by allotting digital VHF commercial television channels in New Jersey and Delaware. The first allotment is channel 4 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.”

“In a second matter, the Media Bureau also found that the public interest would be served by approving an allotment that would give the State of Delaware a commercial VHF channel”

Each construction permit specifies a period of three years for the construction to be completed and a license application filed. The filing deadline for applications is Decemeber 15, 2010.
