JVC To Highlight New Duo of Projectors at I/ITSEC

JVC Professional Products Company will introduce the DLA-VS2100U D-ILA projector to the U.S. market and showcase its new 10-MegaPixel DLA-SH7NLG 4,096 x 2,400 D-ILA projector at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), which runs Nov. 29 through Dec. 2, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL (Booth 1600).

DLA-VS2100U D-ILA Projector

The newest addition to JVC’s Visualization Series, the DLA-VS2100U was specifically developed for simulation environments and other visualization applications.

With a new optical engine that uses three D-ILA imaging devices, the DLA-VS2100U delivers 1,920 x 1,080 native resolution and 20,000:1 native contrast ratio, which is double the contrast of JVC’s current model, the DLA-VS2000U. The new projector also features a new 220W UHP short arc lamp that delivers a minimum of 850 ANSI lumens for simulation applications, an increase in brightness that will provide greater brightness headroom in larger or low-efficiency systems as well as a lower cost of ownership.

“In the simulation world, the brightness of a projector is regularly measured to meet FAA regulations,” says Gary Klasmeier, product engineering manager, D-ILA Systems, JVC Professional Products Company. “If brightness drops beyond a certain point, the lamp has to be replaced. With almost twice the brightness of our previous projector, the DLA-VS2100U will deliver more lumens longer, which will reduce lamp replacements and save operational costs.”

A key new feature is an anti-smear reduction mode, which reduces image smearing during fast-motion scenes through frame insertion or black frame insertion. In addition, a new color management system enables users to match color primaries to other projectors. The DLA-VS2100U is also more compatible with software genlock synchronization used in some simulation environments, and it offers Ethernet connectivity, in addition to RS-232, for network-based monitoring and projector control.

With two HDMI and a VGA input, the DLA-VS2100U supports 1080p/60 and 1080p/50 video formats. A center-mounted lens with horizontal and vertical shift provides installation flexibility, and a rugged chassis and optional fixed offset lens mount makes the unit ideal for motion-based applications.

The DLA-VS2100U ships with a 1.4-2.8:1 zoom lens. The projector is also available without a lens (DLA-VS2100NL), allowing the use of our optional 1:1 and 1.2:1 fixed lenses. The new projector will be available in March 2011.

10-MegaPixel DLA-SH7NLG 4,096 x 2,400 D-ILA Projector

The 10-MegaPixel DLA-SH7NLG 4,096 x 2,400 D-ILA projector combines high-quality resolution with up to 5,000 ANSI lumens, 10,000:1 native contrast ratio, and low-cost maintenance. The 4K D-ILA projector is available now and is ideal for simulation environments and high-spec design and monitoring facilities.

Introduced earlier this year, the DLA-SH7NLG incorporates three 1.27-inch 4K D-ILA display devices for high-quality imaging, with a low latency mode for simulation environments. It achieves high resolution of approximately 10 megapixels (4,096 x 2,400), which is five times the resolution of full HD. As a result, it can simultaneously display four screens in WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) resolution – its four DVI (Dual-Link) input terminals support an array of PC signals. In addition, the DLA-SH7NLG offers true black quality with a 10,000:1 native contrast ratio, thanks to a wire-grid optical engine.

Dual 330W high-pressure mercury lamps deliver 4,000 lumens in a typical simulation application. In single lamp mode, the DLA-SH7NLG can automatically choose the lamp with less cumulative operating time for maintenance efficiency. This, plus the addition of a low-power mode, enables consecutive lamp life of approximately 6,000 hours, which is about double that of conventional projectors. Such features allow the DLA-SH7NLG to offer low running costs even under heavy professional use.

Three different lenses, including short-throw and zoom models, are available for various projection environments. The DLA-SH7NLG only weighs about 110 pounds, excluding lens. Its design offers operational flexibility, including stacking two projectors to display images or installation on a +/- 90-degree pitch angle.

The DLA-SH7NLG operates on normal AC 100-220V power and consumes less than 1.1 kW. Convergence can be adjusted to 1/10 pixel accuracy via GUI control, and three gamma tables are included. Six test patterns, including a crosshatch and color bars, enable image adjustment without external signal sources.

Projection configuration data is easily stored and uploaded from a USB memory device. The Ethernet-compatible DLA-SH7NLG can be configured via a PC Web browser, and multiple projectors are networkable for operation via a single PC. Plus, for improved maintenance, e-mails can be generated automatically to send lamp replacement reminders and error status notifications.
