NEP Debuts nsite Monitoring System at LTS 2010
At SVG’s League Technology Summit this week, NEP Broadcasting debuted nsite, a brand new proactive and automatic system of monitoring and support for broadcasting facilities.
“In the world of live TV, there are a multitude of things that can happen at any moment that might jeopardize a broadcast,” says NEP CEO, Debbie Honkus. “nsite is our response, it is our security system. NEP is known for providing world-class support to every broadcast we do, and nsite allows us to enhance this support, and provide our clients with more certainty on every show.”
Starting with a secure network and uniform platform, nsite creates an automatic remote connection to every system in a broadcast facility, from temperature and climate control, to power, as well as individual pieces of equipment, graphical user interfaces, and PCs. As soon as a facility has power, nsite is on gathering and logging information. Once an Internet connection is established all data is automatically transmitted back to NEP headquarters where it is monitored, stored, and analyzed. If a problem occurs, through nsite, NEP can bring a full arsenal of experts around the globe virtually to site in an instant, because the connection is already there.
“nsite started with the desire to enhance support at our remote and studio broadcasting facilities beyond the engineers on-site, so that when problems occurs they have the full support of NEP at their disposal in an instant,” says Chief Engineer and nsite Architect, Jeff Joslin. This system goes way beyond traditional VPN or remote access system. All of those systems operate under a just-in-time model, but nsite is automatic and entirely proactive.”
In addition to monitoring and response, nsite provides a wealth of data that that can be analyzed to look for trends and anomalies. With this information, NEP will be able to anticipate problems, prevent future issues, and improve the design and infrastructure of their broadcast facilities. With three facilities fully-equipped with nsite to date, NEP is developing a plan to implement the system company-wide over time.
