SVG Year in Review: May

The 3D news kept flowing in May as SVG hosted its first 3D Production and Transmission Summit at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City. At the Summit, ESPN mapped out its 3D strategy, CBS and MSG presented lessons learned from their 3D productions to date, and Comcast and DIRECTV revealed their plans to choose reach over exclusivity in 3D programming. ESPN also continued its 3D testing with 3D Tech Days, where a dozen vendors presented a host of 3D technologies, which underwent live tests for the first time in Hartfort, CT.

Back in New York, sports was once again a driving force at Streaming Media East, though HTML5 was a hot topic on everyone’s lips.

Across the pond, ESPN found some new challenges at the French Open, while Orange and France Télévisions expanded their 3D coverage of the event in their second annual 3D tennis transmission.
