Super Bowl Report: Big Screen Productions, Cowboys Work Together for Super Bowl Scoreboard Show

For 17 years Bob Becker, Big Screen Productions, EVP, has been on hand at the Super Bowl to help produce the in-stadium entertainment and game coverage. Typically Becker and his team take over the scoreboard control room, bringing in their own segments and big-game philosophy.

Bob Becker of Big Screen Productions is looking forward to working on a truly Big Screen at the Super Bowl.

But Becker says this year will be different as his team of five will work closely with the Dallas Cowboys scoreboard team to ensure everything goes smoothly for a production that will be seen by more than 115,000 fans in the stadium.

Dwin Towell, Director of Broadcast Engineering at Dallas Cowboys Stadium, says nine cameras will be used for the production that will be seen by fans in the stands. An EVS unit has also been added to the mix for the production and the team will have access to 12 camera signals in the Fox Sports truck for replay needs.

The centerpiece of the main control room is a Sony 3ME MVS-8000 switcher and the facility also houses three Chyron HyperX graphics systems,. Three Harris NEXIO servers are used for commercial and long-segment playback. Evertz supplied all the routing, with most of the fiber coming from Evertz and Telecast.

Dwin Towell and his team will be integral to the Super Bowl's in-stadium video presentation.

Towell’s team will also handle the video presentation for the scoreboards outside of the stadium and, in particular, the NFL Party Plaza presentation. But that feed will not be an original production but rather the feed from the Fox Sports production.
