New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards Announces 2011 Sports Category Finalists

New York Festivals, International Television & Film Awards have announced the Finalists for the 2011 competition. The Grand Jury, comprised of award-winning television and film professionals, selected finalists from 31 countries around the globe.  The 2010 FIFA World Cup, the world’s most widely viewed sporting event, received Finalist status in multiple categories for multiple entrants, including ESPN, CBC, and Sogecable/Cuatro.

All Finalists will go on to a second round of judging, with different criteria to determine the Grand Trophy Award recipients, as well as Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalists.  Trophies will be awarded at the 2011 Television & Film Awards ceremony on April 12 at the annual NAB Show in Las Vegas.

Categories in this year’s competition included Best Sports Anchor, Best Sports Reporter/Correspondent, Best Sports Journalism, Best Interview, Best Sports Newscast, Best Graphic Design, and Sports Coverage, as well as documentaries, features, promos, opens, and techniques.

The New York Festivals Awards ceremony will shine the spotlight on the 2011’s World’s Best TV & Films, as well as present the Lifetime Achievement Award, Broadcaster of the Year, Production Company of the Year, and United Nations Department of Public Information Awards. Ceremony attendees will have access to The NAB Show, The NAB Show content conferences, speakers, exhibitions, and special screenings of the Grand Award winners in the Content Theater.
