MSG, YES Lead List of New York Emmy Nominations

The New York Emmy Awards Nominations were announced on Thursday, as MSG Network led all regional sports networks with 60 total nominations. YES Network placed second with 46 nominations, while SNY picked up 23 nods. In its first year of eligibility, MSG Varsity landed 32 nominations.

MSG Network was nominated for more awards than any other New York network, sports or otherwise, for the fourth consecutive year. In addition to MSG Network’s 60 nominations, MSG Plus received seven nominations and MSG Interactive received four. MSG Media, which also includes the FUSE music network, earned 71 total nominations covering 38 different categories.

MSG Network was also nominated in the Technical Achievement category for MSG Network’s production of the first-ever live 3D hockey telecast, featuring the Rangers versus the Islanders at Madison Square Garden on March 24, 2010.

YES Network’s 46 nods are the most since its launch in 2002. It has now totaled 235 Emmy nominations, winning 49 statues.  Among the programs nominated: Yankees and Nets coverage, Yankeeography, CenterStage, and its 3D Yankees telecasts. Also nominated were the network’s YES MO HD camera as well as on-air talent Bob Lorenz, Paul O’Neill, John Flaherty, Marv Albert, and Jim Spanarkel. Yankeeography, which garnered six nominations, is produced in partnership with Major League Baseball Productions.

Award winners will be announced on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the 54th annual New York Emmy Awards ceremony to be held at The Marriott Marquis in Times Square.
