New HD Trucks Roll Out to Croatia and Belarus

The HD rollout continues to spread its way east across Europe, with new HD trucks delivered in Croatia and Belarus. Reflecting the usual diversity of the continent, however, the two are very different vehicles and kitted out by different manufacturers.

Croatel’s OB2, a Mercedes Azor OB truck, is based on Miranda’s NVISION 5128 multiformat router

Croatian satellite-service provider Croatel’s OB2, a Mercedes Azor OB truck, is built around Miranda’s NVISION 5128 multiformat router. “The truck has been prepared to UEFA standard,” says Croatel Managing Director Tonko Barac, “including 11x Grass Valley LDK8000 World Elite cameras with 1x LDK8300 Grass Valley super-slow-motion camera, an XT[2] EVS server system, a Grass Valley Kayak 300HD 3 M/E production switcher, and a Miranda router system with 112×96 audio/video matrix and Densité 3 frame cross-converter boards.

Barac sees the new vehicle as able to compete for HD work across the whole of southeast Europe, with a particular emphasis on sport: “At this moment, Croatel has the only HD DSNG 1+1 in this region, and, together with the newly launched HD OB truck, we are planning on covering uplink services for UEFA and all other sport matches in HD standard.”

National TV and Radio Co. of the Republic of Belarus has a new HD DSNG vehicle built by Broadcast Networks

Meanwhile, UK-based systems integrator Broadcast Networks recently completed the design and build of a four-camera, four-wheel-drive HD DSNG vehicle for the National TV and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus (BTRC).

The truck features Sony HDC-1550 HD cameras and a PDW-F800 XDCAM HD camcorder with Link Research wireless system; a Sony MFS-2000 multiformat switcher, Evertz EQT 32×32 video router, and a Yamaha DM1000 digital audio console. Uplink facilities include CPI Satcom amplifiers, Tandberg encoders, and Newtec upconverters. The vehicle is able to operate autonomously with an on-board 24-kVA generator and crane, and, working in close partnership with Sony Professional Services, Broadcast Networks completed the build schedule in an impressive 24 days.
