NAB 2011: NewTek Enhances TriCaster Production System

At the NAB Show in April, NewTek will feature the latest additions to and accessories for its TriCaster portable live production system.

The new TriCaster TCXD850 CS (priced at $5,995), a hardware control surface for the TriCaster TCXD850 HD portable live production system, provides a physical connection to the 24-channel system’s functions and effects. Released in January, it features illuminated pushbuttons, twist knobs, a T-bar, and three-axis joystick to control all of the functions and effects available in the TriCaster TCXD850, letting operators perform commands instantly.

Slated to be rolled out at NAB, the TriCaster Virtual Set Editor (VSE) allows users of TriCaster TCXD850 and TCXD300 to customize specially designed sets featuring real-time reflections and highlights and wide a wide range of elements. Users can also add their own artwork to Layer Sets to create custom virtual sets. Once a set has been customized with VSE ($995), users can export it immediately for live production.

“When it comes to live events — especially action sports — producers, directors, and content editors are always looking for ways to offer their fans more,” says Philip Nelson, SVP of strategic development for NewTek. “TriCaster allows a producer to elevate the overall event experience and provide unique coverage like no one else — up close and personal.”
