NAB 2011: Telecast’s Fiber-Optic Links For Robotic Cameras Set for U.S. Debut

The NAB Show in April will mark the U.S. launch of Telecast Fiber Systems’ T-POV Robotic Links. The new family of fiber-optic links for robotic cameras builds on the company’s original HD/POV product and adds the option of Ethernet control.

“These [links] are highly configurable and have pretty much everything you would need to control a robotic camera,” says Steve DeFrancesco, VP/GM at Telecast Fiber Systems. “It allows you to do all the pan-tilt controls and zoom controls, HD video, data signals, audio feeds on a single fiber [link]. Plus, now it has Ethernet.”

Telecast will also showcase its CopperHead 3000 Series camera-mountable fiber-optic transceivers, providing a single fiber-optic link between any professional camera and the broadcaster’s truck, control room, or “video village” position. Telecast will show the CopperHead 3050 (designed for ENG and SNG), the CopperHead 3200 (a multicamera solution for a range of HD broadcasting applications), CopperHead 3400 (designed for 3D production and live high-speed HD sports coverage), and CopperHead Pro (designed for HD-image-magnification applications in houses of worship, music venues, and corporate events).

These systems deliver uncompressed HD video and simultaneously transport bidirectional digital and analog video, as well as all two-way camera control, audio, video, data, sync, tally/call, prompter, and intercom signals between the camera and the base station.

Telecast will also highlight its TelePort 3G multichannel CWDM (coarse wavelength division multiplexing) management system and the TeleThon 3G multichannel wavelength manager and HD/SDI transport.
