NAB 2011: Motorola To Show MPEG-4 HD Program Distribution

At the NAB Show, Motorola will demonstrate MPEG-4 HD program distribution enabling programmers to transmit high-quality digital video as part of a modular uplink for delivery via a DVB-S2 satellite carrier. The SE-6000 high-performance encoding platform supports both MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 standard-definition and high-definition encoding and transcoding and also includes 3G-SDI and dual-link interfaces to meet the future processing demands of 1080p/60 resolution and 3DTV using the MPEG-4 format. On display for operators as part of downlink, IRDs receive MPEG-4 signals or transcode to MPEG-2 for compatibility with existing cable systems. Next-generation commercial satellite receivers like the DSR-6100 transcoding receiver supports all HD formats, including 1080p60 and converts to MPEG-2 HD, SD, and/or analog NTSC to support the existing video infrastructure of the service provider. Also at the show, Motorola will demonstrate delivery of full-resolution 3D signals to the home.
