NAB 2011: Orad Makes New Play for Sports Graphics

Orad continues to address the needs of the sports-production community, and its efforts will be on display at the NAB Show in April. Attendees can expect to see improvements to PlayMaker, the replay and smart-editing system for game highlights. New for the show will be the PlayMaker PlayNet module, which allows file sharing between servers for preview, copy, or instant playout of clips from remote servers.

Also new this year is Orad’s Interact application, which enables presenters to interact with their graphics using an Apple iPad. Talent can face the camera while controlling graphics or “telestrating” plays or video. The iPad application can be used to control interactive graphics on any display connected to Orad’s HDVG system, enabling broadcasters to use existing HD screen, video wall, LED wall, projector displays, etc.

In addition, the 2010 Emmy Award-winning MVP system provides visual tools for creating unique content to better analyze critical plays and break down the flow of the game. MVP can be used for any sport and any type of game field or court, and the diverse toolset includes such features as flow motion, HyperZoom, player and object tracking, and a tracked Telestrator.

Also on display will be the Morpho 3D character generator, which offers creation and playback capabilities with a single user interface.
