NAB 2011: Abekas To Feature Mira Production Server

Abekas maintains a rich product line for the sports-broadcast industry — including production servers, disk recorders, and special-effects systems — and thus looks set to have a busy booth at the NAB Show in April.

Of particular interest is its affordable Mira production server, which is in use worldwide for instant replay, slow motion, super slow motion, and highlights editing. The highlights can be “melted” to an external USB/eSATA drive in two popular formats: Sony XDCAM-422-50 and DVCPRO-100. The Mira is available in configurations ranging from a four-channel system with 33 hours of storage to an eight-channel system with 84 hours of storage. By pairing channels, Mira can be easily switched into stereoscopic 3D operation and supports 3G Level-B interconnect.

As an example, the Mira eight-channel system can be configured as 6-in/2-out. This allows six cameras to be simultaneously and continuously recorded while two output channels are used as PGM/PGM or PVW/PGM with dissolves.

Mira works in HD/SD, offers eight tracks of audio per video channel, and has a built-in multiviewer.

Also worth checking out is the ClipStoreMXc, which is a popular choice for video/key/audio clip playback in control rooms and OB trucks. It comes standard as an HD/SD digital disk recorder with eight tracks of digital audio and also features QuickTime .mov file import.
