NAB 2011: Streambox Device Sends HD/SD Video Quickly

At the NAB Show, Streambox will highlight its new Avenir mobile broadcasting device that allows users to quickly send HD/SD video from remote locations. Avenir has the ability to bond up to eight 3G/4G wireless cards, suiting it to streaming broadcast-quality live and file-based video. The device supports up to eight 3G/4G cellular modems for bonding and features HD-SDI and DV input. The lightweight, compact battery-powered unit can be deployed anywhere in minutes.

“Avenir gives the user to the ability to roam away from an ENG or SNG truck and still be able to interact,” says Marketing Manager Ryan Davis. “In terms of sports-video applications, it allows for efficient remote HD backhaul.”

Streambox 3D enables users to capture and transmit live and file-based 3D video over IP networks. It allows 3D content to be delivered within preexisting HD bandwidth infrastructures currently being used for 2D. The product transports full-frame left and full-frame right HD 3D video and captures video via 3G-SDI or 2x HD-SDI in 1080i. Streambox 3D also allows full HD 3D output via dual HD-SDI or single 3G-SDI with Genlock.

Streambox 9300 is a 1RU rack-mounted encoder/decoder capable of sending HD or SD video. The 9300 is used primarily in the sports industry for stadium streaming where a fixed infrastructure exists. The system is capable of encoding or decoding live and file-based HD and SD video. It also features Dual Gigabit Ethernet interface, which provides multiplex/demultiplex configurations. HD video quality is available from 512 Kbps to 30 Mbps.

“At NAB, Streambox is offering more than just one way to solve a video problem,” says Davis. “We have an entire end-to-end acquisition platform that allows broadcasters to use different products to fill all their video needs.”
