NeuLion Streams into College Basketball Post-Season on High Note
NeuLion streamed more than 400 live college basketball events in the first half of March. Viewers spent an average of 31 minutes consuming this video and audio content. NeuLion’s platform will also power broadcasts for the upcoming NAIA Div. I Men & Women’s Basketball Championships, which tipped off on March 16.
“College fans are passionate about following their school’s basketball tourney exploits, and NeuLion gives colleges and athletic conferences the technology platform they need to seamlessly broadcast college events online,” says Marc Sokol, executive vice president, marketing and business development, NeuLion. “With NeuLion’s platform, our partners are in total control of their live events — they can focus on producing the action on the court and feeding the passion of their fans — NeuLion takes care of the rest.”
College basketball live events powered by NeuLion include home-feed audio streams of top programs such as No. 1 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tourney seeds Duke and Ohio State, video streams of many conference tournaments, and hundreds of other basketball games. In March 2011, NeuLion is broadcasting more than 500 college basketball games from around the country.
In addition to NeuLion’s technology powering the digital broadcasts of more than 500 college basketball games in March, NeuLion’s platform also delivers live HD video streams. Both the University of Oregon and LSU are working with NeuLion to stream basketball and baseball in HD; Duke will stream select home contests of Blue Devils baseball in HD beginning March 15. Thus far in the 2010-11 college season, NeuLion has streamed more than 50 live games in HD.
“Schools can grow into the HD service with us,” says Sokol. “They might not have the equipment to stream HD today, but our platform is flexible enough that, once they do, they will quickly and easily be able to stream their games in HD.”
