Cardinal Ratings Fly High for FOX Sports Midwest
Story Highlights
Yesterday’s opening day game was the highest-rated Cardinals season or home opener ever on FOX Sports Midwest. The Padres-Cardinals telecast generated a 13.3 household rating in the St. Louis DMA, according to Nielsen Media Research.
That’s up 11 percent from last year’s home opener (11.9 vs. Houston), and tops the previous high of a 13.0 for the 2005 home opener vs. Milwaukee.
A 13.3 rating equates to approximately 167,000 St. Louis households tuning it on average during the game. Viewership peaked in the 11th inning at a 17.4 rating, which translates to 219,000 households.
FOX Sports Midwest is in its 18th season of Cardinals telecasts. Last year the Cardinals posted the highest local-market TV ratings in Major League Baseball, averaging a 9.5 on FOX Sports Midwest.
