NAB 2011: T-VIPS Lauches nSure for Transport Stream Monitoring, Switching

At NAB 2011, T-VIPS will introduce a new product line for transport stream monitoring and switching, dubbed nSure.

Following product line expansion, the T-VIPS product ranges are cProcessor, nSure, Video Gateways, and tManage. cProcessor is solutions for the processing, modification, adaptation and remultiplexing of transport streams. nSure is a range of products that monitor, analyze and switch transport streams. Video Gateways are for the compression and transport of high-quality video, primarily over IP networks. tManage software tools are for network and connection management.

“The launch of the nSure range of solutions makes it simpler for customers to understand our targeted offerings in the video transport domain,” says Janne T. Morstøl, COO, T-VIPS. “By focusing our transport stream portfolios on processing and remultiplexing, with the cProcessor line, and monitoring and switching in the nSure range, we provide the whole industry with specialized products designed to make complex video network operations – simple! I look forward to the nSure product range becoming just as well known as our cProcessor line and expect both to generate high levels of interest at NAB2011.”

The two product lines will now develop in two directions. The cProcessor toolbox of products allows network operators and broadcasters to create, modify, and adapt Transport Streams to suit their own requirements and operational needs. The new nSure product range simplifies the monitoring, analysis and switching of transport streams and services throughout video broadcast networks.

T-VIPS nSure products are designed to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of high-quality video content and simplify the day-to-day operations required by increasingly complex video broadcast infrastructures. T-VIPS’ standards-based nSure products are widely used by satellite, IPTV, and terrestrial network operators for efficient monitoring and switching of Transport Streams. These solutions support improved Quality of Service, positively impacting Service Level Agreement metrics by delivering functions designed for fast error detection, diagnostics and intelligent switching to replace defective signals.

nSure products enable flexible interfacing with support for IP/Ethernet, SONET/SDH, DVB-ASI, or SMPTE-310 networks. They insure 24/7, continuous monitoring of transport streams, services and components (remote or centralized). nSure provides simultaneous, in-depth analysis of transport streams, services, PIDs and DVB PSI/SI and ATSC PSIP tables. The products enable uninterrupted video by utilizing 1 +1 redundancy switch-over between two MPEG-2 transport streams. nSure also delivers seamless SFN and DVB-T2 redundancy switching to avoid service outages as well as automatic and user-defined alarm and error handling. Finalley, nSure enables stand alone operation or easy integration with NMS.

PBS Affiliate Brings in T-VIPS CP525 cMUX Remultiplexers
In related news, T-VIPS has announced the delivery of their CP525 cMUX remultiplexers to an undisclosed public television network in the Southeastern region of the U.S.

The CP525 cMUX is a tool for flexible processing, multiplexing, and scrambling of MPEG transport streams. The PBS affiliate had a requirement for monitoring and switching of incoming transport streams with local PSIP rebranding to ensure delivery of its signal. T-VIPS was awarded this order based upon its ability to quickly modify its CP525 to enable switching between incoming transport streams.  This added functionality is now available for any CP525 user.

“The selection of T-VIPS’ transport stream processing and switching technology for mission-critical transmission at this highly regarded public network demonstrates the superior quality and flexibility of our approach,” says Janne T. Morstøl, President of  T-VIPS America.   While our multiplexing and processing products are compact hardware devices, they are driven by software that we can quickly modify to suit our customers’ needs.  As their needs change, customers can add additional features via software upgrades.  This software architecture enhances the scalability and robustness of our product line.”

The T-VIPS’ CP525 units are currently being installed across the multiple-station network at each of its transmitter sites, and at its main TV studio facility.

Each CP525 is configured for four ASI inputs, including two from main and redundant microwave receivers and two from main and redundant satellite recievers.  With the newly added input switching capability, the CP525’s will be able to perform prioritized switching between these transport streams automatically.  As part of its internal transport stream monitoring, the CP525 can detect errors in the incoming transport stream and switchover to a redundant ASI input if necessary to ensure optimal performance.

The CP525 has extensive transport stream processing capabilities, including service and component filtering, PSIP rebranding, remultiplexing, and PSI/SI/PSIP program table updates. While the units will mainly be used for transport stream switching and PSIP rebranding, they will also be relied upon for their ASI and SMPTE-310 signal conversion functionality.

The CP525 cMux allows user-friendly configuration and management of deployed devices using either a WEB/XML based remote control or T-VIPS Connect software.
