SVG Unveils 3D Live Playbook for Golf

The Sports Video Group today unveiled its second 3D Playbook, a new Website underwritten by Sony and designed to give those involved in producing professional golf events in 3D a central resource for tips, photos, and more.

The interactive site takes an in-depth look at the Sony Open, which was produced in 3D by Sony and the Golf Channel during the weekend of Jan. 14. CLICK HERE to experience the full 3D Playbook.

Features include:

  • Photo galleries of each hole taken during setup and the event
  • An interview with director Steve Beim on directing 3D golf
  • An overview of the technologies used and production partners like NEP, Sony, and Element Technica
  • Top tips for 3D golf productions based on interviews with those on-site.

“The 3D Playbook format is the best way to give SVG members and sponsors an understanding of some of the most important developments in 3D,” says SVG Editorial Director Ken Kerschbaumer. “Visitors to the site will find a behind-the-scenes look at the Sony Open with exclusive photos that document camera positions and rig placement as well as interviews with those who made this important event possible.”

Those wishing to learn even more will have an opportunity to see 3D footage from the event at the NAB Show on Monday April 11 from 10 to 11:15 a.m. in Room N109. Kerschbaumer will moderate a panel discussion featuring executives from Sony, PGA Tour Entertainment, Element Technica, and NEP. The session will include a screening of more than 15 minutes of different types of 3D footage captured at the event.
