VISLINK News and Entertainment Links Red Sox and Yankees on Opening Day

When the Boston Red Sox begin their 2011 Major League Baseball season with a weekend series opener against the New York Yankees on April 8, the HD action will be transmitted wirelessly to Fenway Park’s new outfield video boards with VISLINK News and Entertainment’s LINK 6.5-GHz four-input HD wireless transmission and camera-control system.

The system is tightly integrated with Sony’s new HSC-300K, PDW-700 portable-camera system and brand-new RCP-1500 controller. The combination will enable the Red Sox to take advantage of the latest Sony video technology and LINK’s high-performance RF pedigree to provide HD video to the new video boards as well as multiple monitors installed throughout the ballpark.

The Red Sox wanted a best-in-class, industry-leading solution, so comprehensive tests were conducted between different manufacturers, and the LINK system was ultimately chosen for the Fenway project.

Boston Red Sox Chief Engineer Eric Hancock said, “Since the implementation of HD, we needed a system that delivers much better RF performance than we have experienced in the past, and the LINK transmission system delivered all of that and more.”

The LINK wireless-camera systems include the ability to use the camera manufacturer’s RCPs, field-swappable RF modules from 1.95 to 7.5 GHz, a choice of standard DVB-T modulation, and LINK’s own LMS-T, which provides superior RF signal integrity.
