Evertz Makes NAB Push for Workflow Solutions

Evertz’s big push at the NAB Show revolves not around products necessarily but rather around end-to-end workflow solutions. The company has traditionally relied on a hardware approach but, this year, will also focus on software offerings to simplify workflows, automate channels, and maintain simplicity throughout the production process. For the sports market, Evertz’s two biggest product announcements are Mediator SC, a multiplatform, multichannel playout solution, and OvertureRT Live, an integrated channel-in-a-box solution.

“Mediator SC will take a complete management system, which is vast, and condense it down to just what’s needed,” explains Orest Holyk, director of sales for Evertz. “That’s perfect for sports.”

Mediator SC approaches file-based and live workflows with integrated media-asset management and traditional channel-playout automation. Built on the same software and platforms used in Mediator Enterprise, Mediator SC delivers content to multiple platforms while enabling the user to track and manage media assets for any size of system, from small TV stations to remote playout.

Built on standard IT hardware, OvertureRT Live offers the functionality of a master control and multichannel playout with channel-branding features.

“That allows me to come in with various live feeds, or I can come in with stored content and then create my channel by adding my branding and all of the compliant video services that I need before I send that out over any platform,” Holyk says. “I can send it over video, over IP, whatever the case may be. It’s a station-in-a-box type of mentality.”

With a multiport internal video server that supports a wide range of file formats with 1 TB of content storage, OvertureRT Live can play out a mixture of SD and HD content. The box also provides a mixture of still graphics and character generation and offers a flexible I/O that can be configured for either four inputs/four outputs or six inputs/two outputs.
