JVC Previews 4K Technology at NAB Show

JVC (Victor Company of Japan) has developed a large-scale integration (LSI) chip for high-speed processing of HD video, which will be an integral part of the next generation of camcorders from JVC Professional Products Co. The company is providing a technology demonstration during the NAB Show (Booth C4314).

The new LSI enables processing, encoding, and recording of 4K2K images, which have four times the resolution of Full HD. It also has the power to record two 1920×1080 images from left and right cameras simultaneously using MPEG-4 MVC for HD 3D production.

In its booth, JVC has camera prototypes based on the new LSI technology, including two 4K cameras with sample video. The company is also showing the GY-HMZ1U ProHD 3D handheld camcorder, which will be introduced this fall.
