MSG Networks Re-Ups with HTN Communications for A/V Backhaul

HTN Communications (HTN) today announced that MSG Networks has extended its contract with HTN. Under the terms of the contract, HTN will continue to provide A/V backhaul services for MSG’s coverage of seven professional sports teams, with feeds managed and monitored from HTN’s New York City technical operations center, and for the network’s simulcast of WFAN’s “Boomer and Carton” show.

MSG and MSG Plus serve as the home for the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres (upstate New York only), New York Liberty; and New York Red Bulls.

“We have always enjoyed a great relationship with HTN, as the company has supplied us with the high-quality network and services essential to first-rate delivery of our professional sports coverage,” says Jerry Passaro, SVP of network operations and distribution at MSG Media. “Just as we’ve been a longtime leader in bringing popular sports and entertainment programming to viewers in the New York metropolitan area, HTN has long been a leader in enabling delivery of such programming.”

MSG Media consists of programming networks and interactive offerings, including the MSG Networks (MSG Network, MSG Plus, MSG HD, and MSG Plus HD) and the Fuse Networks (Fuse and Fuse HD).

“MSG has been providing thrills for New York-area sports fans for more than 40 years,” says Christian Kneuer, senior director of operations and client relations at HTN. “We’re pleased to be contributing to the network’s ongoing legacy by providing a robust fiber network and continuous monitoring and support by an expert technical staff.”
