Turner Sports, NCAA Launch Post-Graduate Intern Program

Turner Sports and the NCAA have launched a new internship program through NCAA Digital that builds on the existing innovative and progressive vision of both organizations in the world of digital media.

Turner Sports and the NCAA will provide an opportunity to learn “on-the-job” with an 11-month, paid internship focusing on digital media. Annually, NCAA Digital will offer 10 full-time internship positions in the following areas: editorial, marketing, public relations, multimedia production, operations and product management and will be based out of Turner’s Atlanta headquarters.

It is open to college graduates with either an undergraduate or graduate degree.

“We’re excited to give young professionals a firsthand opportunity to contribute and experience the fast-paced world of digital sports media,” said Mark A. Johnson, Turner Sports vice president of business operations.

Interns selected for the program will become immersed in learning the inner workings of every facet of NCAA Digital, including “March Madness on Demand,” the popular destination of all sports fans during the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship. May 27 marks the application deadline for interested applicants, whose internships would begin on August 1. In addition, the 10 interns chosen for this prestigious program will learn the business side of a major national sports content provider and become part of a team that offers innovative, quality content to fans through digital components in several other areas of sports.

Turner Sports and the NCAA jointly announced in September 2010 the formation of NCAA Digital, a 14-year agreement in which Turner manages and operates the NCAA’s digital portfolio and strengthens coverage of all 89 NCAA championships.  NCAA Digital encompasses NCAA.com and additional NCAA digital platforms including mobile web and applications, as well as other connected devices. Turner continues to enhance editorial coverage and provide the technology behind live video streaming, stats, highlights and social media interactivity, as well as manage ad sales for NCAA digital platforms. The NCAA Digital deal followed the 14-year multimedia agreement between Turner, CBS and the NCAA in which Turner assumed operational oversight of NCAA March Madness on Demand (MMOD) on broadband, as well as March Madness mobile assets.
