Snell Employees Take to Their Bikes for Cancer Research U.K.
Snell, a leading innovator in digital media technology, announced that the company has organized a sponsored bicycle ride in aid of Cancer Research U.K., scheduled for June 10-11. Led by CEO Simon Derry, a number of Snell employees will complete a 160-mile course connecting the company’s three U.K. sites in Havant, Reading, and Saffron Walden. With every mile they cycle, participants will be earning money for Cancer Research UK through donations made to Snell’s charitable giving website, www.justgiving.com/Snell-Ltd.
The cycling event started on the evening of June 9 with a barbecue for all participants and Snell staff members. Today the cyclists will cover the 60 miles from Havant to Reading. On Saturday, June 11, the cyclists will complete the route by cycling another 100 miles from Saffron Walden to Reading. All participants and supporters will enjoy a victory barbecue that evening, sponsored by Snell.
Snell is covering all expenses for cyclists, including accommodation and logistics, as well as any costs incurred by friends and family of employees who wish to participate. The company is hoping to raise £5,000 for Cancer Research U.K., which the employees voted to support throughout 2011. Several Snell business partners are also sponsoring the ride, including Avnet Memec, Cedar Technologies, Gennum, Leading Light Technologies Ltd., Lojixx Technologies Ltd., Mindspeed Technologies, and tv-bay magazine.
Snell is very lucky to have such committed and outstanding employees who want to get involved and raise money for this very worthy cause,” said Derry. “I am proud to be participating and wish everyone the best of luck in our first charity bike ride.”
