Centric TV Upgrades Its Quantel Suites

Centric TV, the Washington, D.C.-based music and entertainment cable network, has upgraded its Quantel suites with additional shared storage and the new V5 software. The system now includes two eQ HD finishing systems working on a Quantel GenePool.

Centric’s two eQ editors, Francine Panzo and Troy Pinckney, post produce a brand new one-hour edition of Centric’s flagship program “The HOT 10” every week. The show combines a
run-down of the week’s hottest videos with interviews from today’s hottest artists and actors, such as Jennifer Hudson, Raphael Saadiq, R. Kelly and Anthony Anderson.

“The producers go out to different cities to shoot interviews each Thursday or Friday. Then they bring us the footage on P2 or XDCAM on Monday or Tuesday,” Fran Panzo explained. “Troy and I then work flat out to edit each interview and build graphic feature packages. Then they are cut together with the music videos to produce the one-hour program in time for air on Saturday morning. It’s a tough schedule – sometimes the days are very long, but being able to handle all the editorial, color correction and finishing in one suite certainly helps.”

“We simply would not be able to get the show done without the GenePool and the ability to share the workflow. I love the eQ. It is simply a better, quicker way to get things done. It is an editor, other systems are computers that do editing,” Panzo concluded.
