TNT Enhances Audio for NASCAR Coverage at Kentucky Speedway

TNT’s coverage of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Racing continues on Saturday, July 9 live from Kentucky Speedway for the track’s first-ever Sprint Cup Series race. The network’s exclusive prime time coverage of the race will be a special audio-enhanced telecast with 40 additional special effects microphones placed in multiple positions around the track, including pit road, the front and  backstretches and the turns, to boost the listening experience for NASCAR viewers.

On average, TNT uses approximately 50 microphones for their race coverage on a track this size. The network also will utilize increased audio from in-car communication between the drivers and race crews and will continue to mic-up select crew chiefs and their teams through Inside Trax which will provide fans with inside access to the sounds and strategy of racing.

TNT’s exclusive coverage of the race gets underway at 7:30 p.m. ET with play-by-play announcerAdam Alexander calling the race alongside analysts Kyle Petty and Wally Dallenbach in the booth. In addition, analyst Larry McReynolds will make frequent contributions from the infield as he breaks down crew strategy and analyzes car adjustments.

The network’s pre-race coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. ET with Countdown to Green delivered by Pizza Hut with Lindsay Czarniak, Petty and McReynolds, as well as reports from pit reportersChris Neville, Ralph Sheheen, Marty Snider and Matt Yocum. No. 14 Tony Stewart will join the pre-race crew on TNT’s infield rig to talk about his season.

TNT’s acclaimed Pride of NASCAR series will feature a profile of the legendary Terry Labonte who is a two-time NASCAR Cup Champion and was named in 1998 as one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers.

Throughout this year’s NASCAR on TNT Summer Series, the network will join forces with NASCAR.com, the official site of NASCAR, to provide TNT RaceBuddy a multiplatform experience for race fans which features live feeds from the racetrack including pit road and in-car cameras.
