Tektronix, Advanced Broadcast Solutions Co-Sponsor VideoInsight Seminar

Tektronix, a manufacturer of test and measurement tools for engineers, and Advanced Broadcast Solutions (ABS), a systems integration firm, will co-sponsor the VideoInsight Seminar at the ABS main offices in SeaTac on Tuesday, Sept. 20. The free seminar, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes lunch, will include a number of demonstrations and presentations that address many of today’s audio and video delivery and quality challenges.

The VideoInsight Seminar agenda begins with a session on 3G SDI technology, which will discuss closed caption issues, audio/video delay, aspect ratio conversion issues, and more. A session on 3D technology will offer insights on 3D workflow as well as testing at various points of content delivery. Loudness measurement and the recently enacted CALM Act legislation will be the focus of the third session, and the program will end with a discussion on MPEG analysis and quality of experience (QoE). Attendance counts toward one credit of category H of the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) recertification program.

“Broadcasters continue to struggle with loudness issues, dialnorm, and the ramifications of the CALM Act – and most are completely unprepared for 3D workflows,” said Mark Siegel, president of ABS. “The VideoInsight Seminar offers a forum to learn about these timely topics, as well as provide insight into the ongoing challenges and quality issues of file-based content and SDI technology.”

The seminar will be led by Steve Holmes, Tektronix senior application engineer, who teaches test methodologies for broadcast, studio, cable, and manufacturing. A 12-year Tektronix veteran, Holmes previously spent 20 years installing, teaching, engineering, and managing video and cable television systems.

Registration for the VideoInsight Seminar is free, but space is limited. To register or for more information, visit http://tek.gcsevents.com/videoinsight/event/?evd=257&s=.
