Cesar Aldama Joins Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic as Senior Director of News

Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic has announced that veteran television news executive Cesar Aldama has joined the network as senior director of news. Aldama assumes this position immediately and reports to Senior Vice President and General Manager Rebecca Schulte.

In this position, Aldama leads the network’s extensive television news department, overseeing all areas of its operation, including content development, editorial direction and strategic planning. His responsibilities include the management and development of the department’s on-air talent and staff and the production of the network’s marquee news, entertainment and original programming, including ‘SportsNet Central,’ ‘Washington Post Live’ and ‘Redskins Postgame Live.’

“Cesar is an experienced and innovative media executive with the ability to successfully lead and develop our comprehensive regional sports news operation,” said Schulte. “He will be a valuable addition to an already talented news department and a great complement to our management team as we continue our rapid growth as a network.”

Aldama has more than 25 years of television news experience, including more than 15 years in leadership positions with major-market media organizations. He most recently served as the news director for Miami’s CBS station, WFOR-TV, and its sister MyTV station, WBFS-TV, where he led an operation that covered regional, national and international stories and events. Prior to that, he spent seven years as the assistant news director for the CBS station in Philadelphia, KYW-TV.

Aldama also served with WFOR-TV as a managing editor for three years, a position he also held with WBAL-TV, Baltimore’s NBC affiliate, for one year. His first management position was with WKMG-TV, the CBS affiliate in Orlando, where he was the assignment manager for three years. He began his career in television news with WSVN-TV in Miami, where he served in a variety of positions over 10 years, including assignment editor, photojournalist and editor.
