STATS Bolsters Sports Solutions Group With Addition of Apollo MIS

STATS LLC, a leading sports technology, data and content company, announced a partnership with Apollo MIS, a leader in training and performance management. The strategic initiative will enhance the company’s Sports Solutions Group in its efforts to serve professional and collegiate teams and athletes with next generation performance and information solutions.

Apollo MIS provides a world class performance management system that encompasses training, practice, medical, physiotherapy and sports science data into one unified platform. The system is used by trainers, strength coaches, medical professionals, physiotherapists, sports scientists and ultimately all coaching and elite athlete development professionals. Game data from STATS’ SportVU player tracking technology will become a key component within Apollo’s product suite and will allow teams a complete view of elite athlete training load and performance criteria.

STATS’ proprietary SportVU player tracking technology collects positioning data of the ball and participants (players and referees) within the playing field. Today, the SportVU basketball system is used by 10 NBA teams including three of the four remaining playoff teams (Boston, Oklahoma City and San Antonio). The SportVU soccer technology is used by broadcasters and clubs around the world as well as UEFA during all Champions League matches.

The Apollo Elite system is currently used by the New York Knicks as well as several EPL clubs, including Manchester United. STATS and Apollo will initially focus on the NBA with an emphasis on integrating SportVU game data into the Apollo Elite system. STATS will take Apollo’s applications to other sports, particularly at the collegiate level where it can serve multiple teams on a single common performance analysis platform.

“For the past few years, we have provided performance management solutions for top tier English clubs,” stated Ram Mylvaganam, Chairman and Founder of Apollo. “Our partnership with STATS will significantly broaden our product offering as we place a greater emphasis on expanding into North America.”

“Ram has positioned Apollo as the leader in performance management systems and we are excited to team it with SportVU Player tracking data,” said Brian Kopp, Head of STATS Sports Solutions Group. “As we take Apollo’s products to market, we will rely on Paul’s expertise in athlete training and metabolics to implement our unique SportVU data into the Apollo Elite platform.”

STATS Adds New Leader to Athlete Development Branch
STATS also announced that Paul Robbins has joined the company as Director of Elite Performance to lead STATS in the emerging area of athlete development.

Robbins is one of the country’s leading experts on cardiovascular programming and metabolic assessments. In 1995, he began to develop cardiovascular programs using the first portable metabolic analyzer at the fitness center level, the same unit that was used by NASA in their shuttles. Mr. Robbins developed the cardio and VO2 assessment programs for Athletes’ Performance and their new corporate division, Core Performance. He currently authors the cardio programs in manuals and certifications offered by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and serves as a product consultant for WOODWAY. Mr. Robbins has worked with teams and individual athletes from the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB and MLS as well as the US national women’s soccer team.
