2012 Engineering Emmy Award Investigations

The following technologies are being investigated by subcommittees of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Engineering Awards Committee.  Investigations might result in one or more Emmy awards.  They might also result in no award.

If you have information that might help the investigations, please contact us, and we will put the appropriate subcommittee in touch with you.

The two basic questions are:
– Are the innovations of these technologies so great that they “materially have affected television”?
– If so, who (individual, company, organization) deserves recognition?

There is no reverse time limit (note the IFB below).

– Development and Commercialization of Digital Infrastructure for Local Cable Ad Insertion
– Multi-Version Synchronized Encapsulated Streaming for the Delivery of Live-to-Air Television Programming in Bandwidth-Volatile Networks
– Development and Commercialization of MPEG-4 HD to MPEG-2 HD Real-Time Transcoding Satellite Receiver Systems

– Pioneering Development of Event-Driven Control-Room Automation Systems for Production of Live Television Shows, Encompassing Full Control of Robotic Cameras, Audio, Graphics, and Video Sources

– Design and Productization of Navigable Mosaic User Interface and Distribution Technology
– Development of Electronic Mastering System for Large-Scale Content Customization, Transcoding, and Distribution
– Development and Standardization of the High-Definition Serial Digital Interface for Television-Production and Broadcast Facilities

– IR/ND Filter Technology for Digital Motion-Picture Cameras
– Improvements to CMOS Imagers for Use in High-Definition Broadcast Video Cameras
