Qumu Releases VCC 6.2 Update

Qumu, a business video platform provider and a Rimage company, announced a significant update to their Video Control Center (VCC) platform solution for the enterprise.  Updates include support for mobile devices including Windows Phones, iPhones, iPads, and Android phones and tablets.

The Qumu Video Platform enables the enterprise to manage, organize and securely distribute live and on-demand video to each desktop and every mobile viewer.

Highlights of VCC 6.2 features include:

  • Broad support for mobile devices for live video, employee generated content, and other uses
  • Social enhancements for mobile including interactive live events, rating and commenting
  • Both HTML 5 and native app support on mobile devices
  • Wide variety of mobile device support including iOS, Android and Windows
  • Qumu Pathfinder technology:  dynamic content routing based on device and bandwidth that provides viewers with a single link.
  • Player watermarking visible in every player that ensures security
  • Improved content preparation including automatic transcode and version management
  • SAML support that provides user authentication inside and outside the firewall
  • Simultaneous adaptive and standard streaming that eliminates need for separate encoder.

“The Qumu Video Platform solves the mobile video challenge, enabling employees to watch live and on-demand video on whatever device they choose,” said Ray Hood, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Qumu.  “Qumu’s developments in the area of adaptive streaming, content prepositioning and the ability to automatically route streams based on device type and network connection, are providing customers with real solutions to the associated network challenges with video.”

The challenges associated with video in the enterprise can be great.  In a research study published today, Qumu found that four out of five (81.6%) corporate communicators say it is difficult to communicate with coworkers when they are out of the office, and a further 76.9% say adoption of technologies that enable a mobile workforce would increase efficiency.  The survey, which was conducted jointly with Ragan Communications, reveals what corporate communicators are doing to meet these challenges, including what they’d like to keep confidential and which industries are benefiting most by adopting video communication.
