…A billboard erected by the Mississippi State athletics department was removed after allegedly violating an NCAA rule. The billboard, which featured five MSU players hoisting the Egg Bowl trophy with the words “Play With the Best,” was removed in late January – several weeks after its debut in Oxford. MSU, which denied a report that it had been contacted by the NCAA in January, self-reported a violation to the Southeastern Conference on Feb. 3, according to documents obtained by The Clarion-Ledger last week.
