Campus Clips: CBS Sports Network To Broadcast Six D-II Football Games; Champs Sports Bowl Gets New Name

…ESPNU and Longhorn Network offered more than 180 hours of women in sports programming across ESPN outlets on Saturday as part of the company’s three-month initiative, The Power IX, which recognizes the 40th anniversary of Title IX. The Longhorn Network will also air three days of programming, including competition from the 2011-12 academic year, as well as notable Longhorn women’s games from past seasons as part of the honors…

…A billboard erected by the Mississippi State athletics department was removed after allegedly violating an NCAA rule. The billboard, which featured five MSU players hoisting the Egg Bowl trophy with the words “Play With the Best,” was removed in late January – several weeks after its debut in Oxford. MSU, which denied a report that it had been contacted by the NCAA in January, self-reported a violation to the Southeastern Conference on Feb. 3, according to documents obtained by The Clarion-Ledger last week.
