NCAA.com to Serve as Online, Mobile Destination for College Football Season

NCAA.com will kick off the 2012 college football season by providing fans with a fully interactive online and mobile destination including highlights from the top games, exclusive weekly video franchises and the return of GameCenter, the live stats companion.  Each week during the season, fans will have complete access to game recaps, stats, rankings, photos and social chatter accessible through NCAA.com and via the mobile site.

NCAA.com’s coverage of the college football season will start Monday, Aug. 20, with a five-part season preview series. Each day during the week, host Vince Cellini and SEC college analyst and former Iowa State quarterback Dave Archer will preview the major conference races, highlight key players to watch in 2012 and analyze the national championship chase.

GameCenter, the NCAA.com live stats companion, returns this year beginning August 30. GameCenter allows fans to track their team’s performance including scoring drives, real-time statistics and play-by-play logs for all Football Bowl Division (FBS) games.  It’s also the social hub for all games, where users can make predictions about the game, chat with other fans and “like” or “follow” their team via Twitter and Facebook integration. Users can toggle from game to game and stay up to date on the latest action. GameCenter will also feature post-game highlights from Top 25 games. Beginning this fall, GameCenter will be accessible via the NCAA.com mobile website for smartphones.

“NCAA.com gives our college football fans extensive online and mobile coverage this season that brings them closer to all NCAA football action, including news surrounding their school’s team, along with access to video highlights, chat sessions, relevant content and live streaming opportunities for select games,” said Mark Lewis, NCAA executive vice president, championships and alliances. “The online and mobile platforms are so widespread this year that it will keep eyes on our student-athletes and allow football fans to remain engaged and excited throughout the season.”

Leading up to the site’s extensive gameday coverage, NCAA.com provides a full slate of weekly college football content, highlighted by:

  • NCAA.com Power Rankings: Every Tuesday, NCAA.com’s editorial staff will compile a statistically-based power ranking of the Top 15 teams in the nation.  Fans will have the chance to weigh in, challenge and submit their version of the Power Rankings.
  • NCAA.com College Football Preview Show: Each Wednesday, host Vince Cellini and analyst Dave Archer will break down the top matchups of the week, highlight the top FBS and FCS national storylines and make their predictions.
  • Conference Blogger Network: Each weekstudent journalists will provide insight from the field covering the major conferences (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12, SEC).
  • NCAA Division II Game of the Week: NCAA.com will provide a live video stream of one of the top games in Division II College Football starting with the Bowie State Bulldogs vs. Benedict Tigers on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m. ET.
  • Game Highlights: Video recaps from the top FBS games each week, including all major conferences.

In addition, NCAA.com will provide the following college football staples beginning the week of September 5:

  • Breaking the Huddle – a Monday morning notebook column highlighting news and tidbits from both on-and-off the field.
