Broadcast Sports, Inc. Readies for Baltimore Grand Prix
Story Highlights
Broadcast Sports, Inc. (BSI) is gearing up for the 2012 Baltimore Grand Prix, now in its second year and one of the largest events ever to come to downtown Baltimore. Headquartered just outside of Baltimore in Hanover, MD, BSI provides TV technology for entertainment events around the world. For the Baltimore Grand Prix, BSI will be providing all of the wireless audio and video systems including the in-car/on-board cameras for the races through the heart of downtown Baltimore on Labor Day weekend.
New this year, BSI has incorporated three additional HD on-board cameras, for a total of four systems, in the chassis for the 2012 INDYCAR season. To do this, BSI worked with chassis manufacturer Dallara to develop and seamlessly integrate the existing roll hoop camera and three new cameras into the body design and electrical system.
The four cameras provide new perspectives and exciting action for viewers. In addition to the 360-degree roll hoop camera used in previous seasons, BSI has included a camera in the rear wing for a panoramic forward-facing shot which offers a high, wide view of the racing action around the car. A camera placed in the right side radiator duct, facing the front tire and suspension, offers side views of the racing action and the speed of the car as well as a close-up view of the tire changes and suspension adjustments during pit stops, while a camera on the side/rear view mirror provides a detailed view of the driver steering and shifting.
BSI will supply a total of seventeen on-board camera systems, six RF hand held camera systems, six wireless announcer systems, and one helicopter with a camera system to the event, including the only HD on-board camera systems for open wheel racing cars in the world.
