IBC 2012: Avid Sphere Opens Up New Remote Workflows
Story Highlights
Avid Interplay Sphere, has made the transition to NewsCutter and Media Composer software, making it possible for editors in the field to edit stories from any location via a cloud-enabled center. The system also automatically manages the transcode, upload and check-in to any connected Avid Interplay system and allows users to edit directly from any Interplay asset store; pre-defined output processes simplify editing and automatic check-in on the production asset system.
“Interplay Sphere opens a new frontier in universal connectivity for news, sports, and video production, letting you craft better stories from where they’re actually happening with a full range of media access and collaborative capabilities,” says Dana Ruzicka, vice president of segment and product marketing at Avid.
The system also speeds the crucial transfer of local media from the field by providing the ability to begin uploading media as a story is being edited, intelligently prioritise media transfer based upon working content, and deliver proxy files ahead of full resolution files
Also on display at IBC is Interplay MAM (Media Asset Management) Active Archive, a package that delivers essential Interplay MAM technology to support key workflows centered on a core archive capability. Comprised of software, workflow automation, partner integrations, and professional services, Interplay MAM Active Archive lets media producers easily customize the system to their needs, expand workflows, and add system integrations, and clients as needed.
