Behind the Mic: Gottlieb Enters Late Night Wars on CBS Sports Net; Soon-to-Launch CSN Houston Adds to Broadcast Team

Doug Gottlieb and CBS Sports Network are getting into the late night wars, as the former ESPN on-air personality will host LEAD OFF, a one-hour live weekeday show that will debut at midnight on Monday, Oct. 22. …Just over a week from launching, Comcast SportsNet Houston had added Tiffany Blackmon, Marius Payton, and Leila Rahimi (LAY-luh RAH-hee-mee) to its broadcast team. The new network, which is set to launch on Oct. 1, is partnership between the Houston Rockets, Houston Astros and the NBC Sports Group and will serve as the new television home of the Astros and Rockets. The network will broadcast from a state-of-the-art, street-level studio in the Houston Pavilions. The network will also be the home to major college, high school and professional sports coverage from around the region.

Blackmon moves to Houston from NBC affiliate KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City. Prior to that, she served as Sports Director at KXXV-TV in Waco, Texas, and also worked as the Weekend Sports anchor at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, La. Payton joins Comcast SportsNet Houston from the Mountain West Sports Network. Prior to that, he served a two-year stint with Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic as an anchor/reporter for SportsNite and SportsRise. Rahimi was most recently the on-field reporter for San Diego Padres broadcasts on Fox Sports Net. …Comcast SportsNet Chicago has brought on anchor/reporter Susannah Collins as its newest on-air talent member for the network’s signature nightly sports news program, SportsNet Central.  Collins will also handle on-site, post-game reporting duties throughout the year at home games for all four of CSN’s pro team partners.  In addition, Collins will frequently host viewer interactive studio segments on the network’s post-game shows, along with a variety of digital initiatives that will be showcased on  Currently the co-host of Comcast SportsNet’s popular Gas Money sports trivia show, Collins has already been handling post-game reporting duties for CSN’s White Sox telecasts, along with reporting and anchoring on SportsNet Central.  Previously, Collins contributed on-air work at Showtime Sports, where she appeared as a special correspondent for the network’s weekly studios shows Inside the NFL and Inside NASCAR, as well as covering MMA and boxing events for Showtime as a live event reporter and web-feature contributor. In addition to her work at Showtime, Collins also served as a correspondent/reporter for the NFL Network, NBC and CBS over the past two years.  In 2011, Collins anchored the weekend sports broadcasts at WCBS-TV in New York.
