Aspera, Vidispine Partner on MAM Development Platform

Aspera, creators of next-generation software technologies, and Vidispine, creators of the Vidispine software platform for media software innovation, announced a global partnership and technology integration combining Aspera’s high-speed fasp transport software and Vidispine’s innovative API media asset management platform (MAM).

Vidispine and Aspera share the common philosophy of eliminating the legacy tradeoffs that companies have had to endure when deploying solutions to create, transfer, manage, store and process audio-visual content. Aspera’s universal high-speed fasp transport supports all data, infrastructure and storage types, regardless of location, and transfers the largest files with maximum speed, regardless of network conditions.

Vidispine’s flexible MAM platform enables users to find and work with any type of media, from any repository, in any type of editor, with anyone, anywhere. The combined solution delivers a complete media asset management backbone with all the features and capabilities necessary to support the most complex workflows with flexibility and ease.

“Vidispine’s platform allows users to build and implement structured workflows for remote content repositories that seamlessly manage file formats and resolutions,” said Erik Åhlin, CEO of Vidispine. “Integrating Aspera high-speed transport extends our platform allowing our customers to easily deploy their content anywhere it’s needed.”

Aspera’s high-speed transport platform, with a rich set of APIs, can be embedded into any application or platform to deliver fast and secure transfers of file-based content and metadata over the wide area network. The platform SDK includes server side components, web applications, and mobile options enabling transfer to and from virtually any device.

“More and more media companies rely on multiple distributed content repositories,” said John Wastcoat, vice president for Aspera. “Combining the Vidispine and Aspera platforms enables fast and seamless movement of content across repositories, supporting global workflows with the appropriate process controls and necessary file format validation.”
