NEP Selects Evertz Routing and Multiviewing for Latest Mobile Unit

NEP has installed Evertz routing and multiviewing solutions in their latest mobile broadcast unit, code named Project Madison.  The immense size and scale of this new truck demanded the best-in-breed technologies and a dense and reliable infrastructure. Due to previous successful EQX implementations and a strong technology relationship with Evertz, NEP decided that the Evertz EQX was the best choice for Project Madison.

George Hoover, CTO of NEP Broadcasting said, “NEP is pleased to be working with Evertz again on very large router solutions encompassing complex embedded audio support and multiviewer integration for Project Madison.  Space is always an issue in mobile units and the Evertz solution gave us massive routing in the smallest footprint. The Madison router decision was further enabled by the success of the ten Evertz EQX systems operating throughout the worldwide NEP OB fleet.”

Evertz worked closely with NEP to develop a future proof routing and multiviewing system that fit within their size, weight, IO, and budget constraints. With Evertz EQX high density core router at the heart of the system, Project Madison has the ability to route a staggering 500 inputs and 3000 outputs including embedded audio routing and processing.

“Instead of asking us to conform to a particular design, NEP gave us the ability to show them what the best application of our technology would be, which is always the best way to get the most out of a complete solution from Evertz,” said Charles Adkinson, Evertz Director, Product Management – Routing and Monitoring Systems. “We worked with NEP extensively to meet all of their requirements and in the end we installed an extremely dense router that has 500 inputs and 3000 outputs in just two EQX frames  – and even at that capacity they have the ability to expand their capabilities.”

In addition to the EQX router, Project Madison utilized a wide range of Evertz routing and multiviewing solutions. Project Madison has more than 160 advanced control panels installed and is using Evertz MAGNUM unified control system for router, multi-viewer and tally interface. In addition to the use of Evertz MAGNUM server and the complete VIP-X multi-viewer system, Evertz EMR router has been installed for extensive audio routing. One of the ways in which the immense scale of routing was accomplished in this project, was through a mix of standard IO as well as taking advantage of Evertz X-LINK technology, not just for multi-viewing but also for interconnecting routers.
