2013 SVG College Sports Summit – “More Than A Game”
We’re looking forward to the annual SVG College Sports Summit in Atlanta on May 29 and 30.
There are some new things you’ll see that we think are exciting. First, we’re at a new hotel, The Hyatt Regency, which affords us a much better space for panels, exhibitors, and the College Sports Media Awards. Next, you’ll notice the new logo and the slight variation on the name; we dropped the word “video” from the title. Not to mean that the core of the program is not about video, its at the core of SVG’s mission. What we wanted to acknowledge is the changing nature of college sports production, programming, and distribution – That it’s “More Than A Game.”
College Sports Video produced by institutions has significant impact on revenues, branding, and the ability to connect with students, alumni, and fans globally. It is the single most effective way to capture an audience, through traditional broadcast, digital distribution, and social networks. As we define our program at The SVG College Sports Summit, we will ensure that we emphasize this shift in the industry and make the conference a more robust and valuable experience for all attendees and exhibitors.
We’re proud to announce the addition of an Honorary Co- Chair, Dan Butterly, Senior Associate Commissioner, The Mountain West Conference. I’ve know Dan for several years and he’s been a big supporter of our college conference since its inception. He’s regarded as a tireless and effective leader not just in The MWC, but in College Sports, having led the 2012 NCAA Women’s Final Four Tournament and managed numerous college sports championships at both the Missouri Valley Conference and The Mountain West. Dan will be an integral member of our conference program planning committee and marketing of the conference.
College Sports Media Awards
On March 1, the call for entries for the 2013 College Sports Media Awards will open and we’ll continue to recognize the growth in quality that comes with each passing year. The CSMAs recognize the best in Professional and National Networks, Regional Networks and Local Programmers, University Athletics Departments, and University Students. In addition, we’re going to showcase several of the nominees and winners on Day 2 of the conference, and let the audience interact with each presenter in a Q&A setting.
