Goalline Technology to Feature at 2014 World Cup (video)

The UK’s Guardian.co.uk reports that Fifa says goalline technology will be used to decide whether a ball has crossed the line or not at the 2014 World Cup. The technology will be supplied by one of two companies – Hawk-Eye, who do similar work for cricket, or Goal Ref. The move will be popular with fans and players anxious to avoid refereeing mistakes such as Frank Lampard’s disallowed goal in England’s 4-1 defeat to Germany in the 2010 World Cup.
