InfoComm 2013: Apantac’s Booth Headlined by New Universal Media Platfrom, CRESCENT Video Wall Products

Apantac, a provider of multiviewers, video walls, signal processing, and extension solutions, will arrive at InfoComm 2013 (booth 3743) next week with plenty of new technologies in tow, including the Universal Media Platform, CRESCENT video wall solutions, additions to its MT HOOD and CRESCENT line of signal processing solutions, CRESCENT Universal Scalers, CRESCENT Universal Mini Multiviewer,

Universal Media Platform
The Universal Media Platform will be continually expanded to provide feature enhancements, to support the latest standards, and to provide a host of mix-and-match signal processing solutions. The UMP is a 12 bit platform that is designed to support 4K, 3D, HD/SD-SDI, HDMI, DVI, VGA, Component, composite and HDBaseT.

The first set of modules in the Universal Media Platform is based on HDMI and HDBaseT.  The scaling and conversion technologies from the award winning Apantac Universal Scaler series will be the basis for future module development. A host of HDBaseT and HDMI solutions on the new Universal Media Platform will be demonstrated at the show.

“We are transferring our current universal scaler and conversion technology onto our new Universal Media Platform so that users have the flexibility and feature-set to mix and match their signal processing requirements on a single unified platform,” says Thomas Tang, president of Apantac.

CRESCENT Video Wall Solutions
The launch of the CRESCENT Video Wall series sees Apantac’s first entry into the video wall market offering a solution for displaying a single video signal across several monitors. The CRESCENT WALL series is available in three models:

CRESCENT 4K accepts one HDMI input, which can be displayed as a 2×2, 1×3 (portrait mode), or 1×4 video wall.  The video wall monitors support resolutions of 1920x1080P or 1366×768. The hardware is a compact ½ rack unit size, and includes three built-in extenders for extending the DVI/HDMI video signals over CAT 6 cable.

CRESCENT WALL 3×3 accepts one HDMI input, which is displayed across nine monitors in a 3×3 configuration. The nine DVI/HDMI outputs support 1920x1080P or 1366x768P resolutions.  Nine built-in extenders for extending the DVI/HDMI video signals over CAT 6 cable are incorporated into this unit.  This model is available in a 1 RU chassis.

CRESCENT WALL 4×4 accepts one HDMI input, which is displayed across 16 monitors in a 4×4 configuration. The sixteen DVI/HDMI outputs support 1920x1080P or 1366x768P resolutions.  Sixteen built-in output extenders are incorporated into this unit for extending the DVI/HDMI video signals over CAT 6 cables.  This model is available in a 1 RU chassis.

Controlling the CRESCENT WALL series is straightforward via front panel buttons, which are easily accessible, or the built-in web control, which can be accessed from any computer browser. The CRESCENT Video Wall series includes a web-based solution to configure the video wall, and make adjustments to bezel compensation and color temperature.

The built-in CATx extenders allow the source to be up to 35 meters (115 feet) from video wall hardware.

The concept of a video wall is to maximize and enrich the visual impact of the video signal being displayed.  This cost effective configurable display solution is is aimed at digital signage, corporate, government, a range of broadcast environments including the live video backdrop, as well as any professional audio visual system installation that requires a video wall platform.

SDI, HDMI and Signal Processing Tools
The 10 new MT HOOD and CRESCENT products are all plug-and-play and cover formats ranging from HDMI, VGA, SDI, Composite, as well as HDBaseT. The new signal processing solutions include:

  • HDMI splitters: HDMI-1×2, HDMI-1×4, HDMI-1×8
  • HDBaseT with POE that can be freely assigned to either the transmitter or receiver
  • VGA selector / dual input switch with VGA out: HDTV-VGA-2×1
  • VGA splitter: VGA-1×2
  • Dual link to 3G converter: Dual-Link-3G
  • 3G to dual link converter: 3G-Dual-Link
  • SDI to CVBS converter (with/without a scaler): SDI-CVBS
  • CBVS to SDI converter: CVBS-SDI
  • USB 2.0 Extenders over CATx: USB-EX-35
  • HDMI to SDI Rack Unit: Combine up to three HDMI to SDI Converters in a single rack unit

CRESCENT Universal Scalers
The new CRESCENT Universal scalers support HDMI, DVI, VGA, component and composite inputs and an HDMI output. Two new models are available including the US-2000 and US-2500. Each model offers two universal inputs that support HDMI, DVI, VGA, component and composite. The scalers can be used as a picture in picture (PIP) processor, a converter, or a 2×1 clean switch. The HDMI output supports up to 1920×1200 resolutions including 1080P 60 Hz. GPI, IP and RS232 control are included depending on the model.

CRESCENT Universal Mini Multiviewer
The MiniDE-4 is a cost-effective compact universal multiviewer that is designed with the technology from the award winning TAHOMA DE universal multiviewer. It displays a combination of DVI, HDMI (with HDCP), VGA, YPbPr, and composite video inputs on a single display.  Users can monitor up to four inputs.

The display layout is configurable, allowing each of the four windows to be sized freely and labeled, depending on the user requirements.  Users can easily control this compact multiviewer with a simple Windows User Interface or with any 3rd party control software using the Apantac AXP ASCII Protocol via IP or RS232.

Outputs are in DVI or HDMI and support up to 1920×1200 including 1080P resolution.  The MiniDE-4 also has an optional redundant power supply.

This new multiviewer is aimed at professional audio visual applications such as education, government, medical, control rooms, sports bars and any other application that requires multiple multimedia inputs to be monitored on a single display.
