Gerling Looks to Gain CARB Approval for Storage Bay Design in Remote Production Trailers

Fred Gerling, President of Gerling and Associates, has stated to SVG that he has formally approached the CARB (California Air Resource Board) with a plan to gain approval from the board to justify the storage bay design on the company’s Remote Television Production Trailers.

“The storage bay design is very important to our clients to accommodate all the storage items required from cameras to lenses to cable to enable trailers to do “stand alone” shows,” says Gerling.

According to Gerling, he has pleaded his case more than 10 times this year on behalf of the industry to ensure the trailers can travel with out California harassment as he sees it.

“The testing is to be done in July and the report then provided to the CARB representative we are working with,” says Gerling. “We should gain the OK but we are working with regimented bureaucrats here, so it is truly an effort by G&A to serve our clients.”

Gerling also says that the orders for new Remote Television Production Trailers are down for 2013, but he expects an uptick in orders as the year draws to a close and that he expects 2014 to be an exceptional year, similar to 2012. This is evidence of the cycle all his clients work with in regard to who earns what contract, according to Gerling.

“To guarantee that our customers return, however, [we] have come up with several great enhancements – from a double-decker second-story trailer, to added LED lighting, to a totally new trailer exterior look. Some of the look features are being provided to also work with in the CARB requirements.

“This year G&A has been very busy delivering exception mobile display trucks, stages and trailers of high quality, adds Gerling, “featuring a lot of the great things we have learned through working with our TV clientele, a huge advantage.”
