YES Network Promotes Mike Webb to VP, Broadcast Operations; Rob Brinkmann to Director of Studio, Production Planning

Two veterans of the YES Network climbed the ladder of the powerful regional sports network’s production department today. Mike Webb has been promoted to Vice President, Broadcast Operations at YES Network. In addition, Rob Brinkmann has been promoted to Director, Studio and Production Planning.

YESWebb, who had been Senior Director, Broadcast Operations, will oversee long-range planning, field and studio operations and engineering. He will report to John Filippelli, President of Production and Programming at YES.

The promotions help fill the role vacated by Ed Delaney, who departed to join Fox Sports Media Group last month.

Brinkmann, who had been manager of production planning, will oversee all studio operations and transmission for YES, and will also provide field operations support.  He will report to Webb.

“Mike and Rob, both original members of the technical operations team here at YES, have played  critical roles in the rapid transformation of YES into the standard bearer for all regional sports networks,” said Filippelli.  “Mike, in particular, has been intimately involved in all aspects of operations here dating back to before our 2002 launch.  He has long enjoyed a sterling reputation within the company and throughout the industry.  Rob’s responsibilities have grown in number and stature over the years here, and we are confident he will excel in his new role.”

A multiple Emmy Award-winner, Webb joined YES in November 2001; his pre-launch duties included researching and contracting for network origination and studio services, satellite services, mobile unit vendors, post-production facilities, as well as hiring the network’s engineering and support staff.    In the ensuing years, Webb oversaw the building out of YES’ state of the art HD production and master control facilities in Stamford, Conn., and managed all operations originating there.  He also managed the introduction of YES’ new production and satellite trucks over the years.

Prior to YES, Webb spent 20 years at ABC Television Network working in a variety of capacities, including as a production executive at ABC Sports.

Brinkmann also joined the YES Network prior to its March 2002 launch.  Most recently at YES, he was managing day-to-day operations for YES’ Brooklyn Nets home and away game telecasts while having involvement in YES’ production budget tracking.
