Campus Clips: West Virginia Sign $80 Million Deal With IMG College; Pac-12 Making Global Push Into China

West Virginia University officials announced a broad partnership with IMG College designed to bring new national and corporate support and brand recognition to the University’s athletic program. The agreement is effective with the 2013-14 academic year. The 12-year agreement, guaranteed to pay to WVU more than $80 million over 12 years, plus revenue-sharing opportunities over the length of the partnership, includes management of local game broadcasts and coaches’ shows for radio and television; publications such as media guides and schedules; digital platforms including social media and web sites; corporate sponsorships; at-event promotions and game day hospitality; stadium and venue signage including scoreboards and ribbon boards; and advertising in university-owned and leased athletic facilities…

…The Pac-12’s push to go global – especially to China – appears it will become a reality. Commissioner Larry Scott and the Pac-12 Conference announced three summer tours to China for Pac-12 student-athletes and coaches as part of its long-term Globalization Initiative. Started in 2011, the Pac-12 Globalization Initiative was designed to proactively promote the member universities through student-athlete exchanges and sport. This August, the Arizona State men’s basketball team and the California women’s basketball team will visit China to compete against university and professional teams and participate in cultural exchange and goodwill activities with their peer student-athletes…

…Wichita State Athletics has selected CBS Collegiate Sports Properties as its exclusive multimedia rights holder for the next ten years, Director of Athletics Eric Sexton announced today.  Operating under the designation of Shocker Sports Properties, the group will engage the market with new inventory platforms and strategic initiatives in support of WSU Athletics. The new partnership will have immediate impact on Shocker Athletics, assuming the department’s television production costs right away as well as assistance with video board and in-venue signage enhancements at Charles Koch Arena, home of Devlin Court…

…The Patriot League announced a multi-year extension of its contract with CBS Interactive for the production of its official website, www.patriotleague.org. The CBSSports.com College Network’s suite of digital product offerings will allow Patriot League fans to consume their favorite school’s content, follow games and news, and shop for the latest team merchandise. The CBSSports.com College Network will handle the development, management and monetization of the Patriot League’s official athletic website and the management of its official online e-commerce store…

…The American Athletic Conference and the Military Bowl have agreed to a six-year deal that starts in 2014 and will match the league against the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Military Bowl is moving from RFK Stadium in Washington to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md., this season, where it’s expected to make a permanent home.

…FOX Sports South unveiled its new lineup of announcers for the 2013 ACC football schedule Wednesday, featuring a legendary voice of collegiate athletics, Wes Durham, who will handle play-by-play duties. Durham will be joined by “All-American” Brian Stann, a former linebacker for the Naval Academy, a decorated veteran of the United States Marine Corps and former top contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Reporter Jenn Hildreth will have the sidelines covered, as she returns for her third season of ACC football and her 12th covering college football on FOX Sports South…

…The Fox College Sports network is covering Cape Cod League Baseball this summer. A nine-game package of Cape Cod Baseball League games began on July 4 when FOX College Sports beamed the Yarmouth-Dennis at Hyannis game from McKeon Park in Hyannis to a national television audience. Fox College Sports Atlantic and USA World Events are producing the games in cooperation with the Cape League. All 10 Cape League teams will be seen at least once on FOX College Sports Atlantic. Future telecasts will originate from Red Wilson Field in South Yarmouth (July 13), Spillane Field in Wareham (July 18), Eldredge Park in Orleans (July 20), Veterans Field in Chatham (July 25), Doran Park in Bourne (Aug. 1) and Guv Fuller Field in Falmouth (Aug. 3). Fox College Sports Atlantic will also carry the All-Star Game on July 27, from Red Wilson Field in South Yarmouth, home of the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox…
