Italy’s Alfanews Relies on ATEME’s Kyrion CM5000 Encoder for Sports, News Coverage

Alfanews, a satellite transmission and TV production service provider based in Arezzo, Italy, has adopted ATEME’s Kyrion CM5000 contribution encoder. This deployment allows Alfanews to cover sports and news events throughout Italy with best-in-class video quality and reliability on behalf of its large international customer base.

Kyrion CM5000 encoder integrated in flight cases and Satellite News Gathering (SNG) vehicles: The extended feature set of the CM5000 encoder has allowed Alfanews to upgrade its fleet and pool of flight cases with MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 4:2:2 10-bit encoding, adding support of 1080p50/60 resolution and frame rate.

Alfanews first used the new kits to cover the papal conclave in Rome in May 2013 and the Volleyball World League tournament in Modena in June. Highly mobile, Alfanews covers events throughout Italy and Southern Europe.Founded in 1997, Alfanews operates with an experienced team to offer SNG, uplink, play-out and TV production services, as well as installation and maintenance of VSAT
