Aspera Wins Primetime Engineering Emmy for Apera fasp
Story Highlights
Aspera has been awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development for its Aspera fasp core transport technology – an innovative high-speed data transfer software that has transformed the way media content is ingested, produced, managed, distributed and delivered today.
Aspera’s patented fasp technology is a bulk data transport protocol with unique characteristics that enable it to move digital content at maximum speed, regardless of data size, transfer distance or network conditions. It underpins the Aspera software suite used widely among digital media enterprises, other data driven industries and the public sector to securely transfer, track and automate the movement of large data sets over IP networks.
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development Emmy is awarded for developments in engineering that are either so extensive an improvement on existing methods or so innovative in nature that they materially affect the transmission, recording or reception of television.
In the 65thPrimetime Emmy Engineering Award announcement, the Television Academy stated: “Aspera’s development of fasp technology has enabled the high-speed transfer and synchronization of file-based media data with complete visibility, tracking, bandwidth control and end-to-end security. Transferring file-based media with speed, integrity and security throughout the supply chain (regardless of distance) on low cost internet networks rather than shipping physical media via tapes or expensive dedicated satellite networks has proven to be an industry game changer. This is evidenced by the fact that the Aspera fasp file transfer software protocol is used on standard IP hardware to distribute content domestically and worldwide by over 1500 media organizations that include virtually all the major broadcast television networks, Hollywood studios and CG/animation houses.”
“We are grateful to the Academy and our forward-looking customers and partners in the digital media industry, who have helped drive the development and maturation of our core technology, and we are tremendously honored to have received this award,” said Michelle Munson, Aspera CEO and co-founder. “Innovation is core to our being here at Aspera and we will continue to invest ourselves and partner with our customers to create fundamental solutions that advance all aspects of digital data movement.”
The 65th Primetime Emmy Engineering Awards ceremony will be held on October 23rd at the Loews Hollywood Hotel. Other prestigious recipients of Engineering Emmys include YouTube, iZotope, Digital Dailies, and Lightcraft Technology.
