Technological Cinevideo Services Adds Wide Angle Zoom to Roster of FUJINON Cabrio Lenses
Technological Cinevideo Services, Inc. (TCS) has added its eleventh FUJINON Cabrio lens to its equipment roster.
Early last year, TCS purchased seven FUJINON Premier PL19-90mm Cabrio (ZK4.7×19) PL mount zoom lenses, and later in the year the facility added three PL 85-300mm Cabrio (ZK3.5x85B) lenses. Their most recent addition is the Premier PL 14-35mm Cabrio wide-angle zoom (ZK2.5×14.) Established in 1978, the New York-based TCS rents digital and film camera equipment and lenses to customers shooting motion pictures, scripted television series, documentaries, reality shows, commercials, and other high-profile projects.
According to TCS President Erik Schietinger, who co-owns the company with his brother, TCS’ VP and Chief Operating Officer, Oliver Schietinger, “We believe in owning the full range of common focal lengths covered in a lens set, and we were very interested in the 85-300mm lenses because they cover the telephoto range very well while keeping the form factor small and portable. A wide-angle option is key to this line though, because it allows productions to ensure the consistency of their look within the Cabrio line without having to move to wide-angle primes or zooms from different manufacturers when they need a wide-angle.”
TCS has found a growing marketing for shooters looking for a digital cinema look but with the portability of ENG-style equipment. “Our clients who are producing reality television and live events are very excited about the arrival of a PL-mounted zoom that can easily be converted from ENG-style functionality to a cinema set-up with motor controllers as needed in a matter of minutes,” said Schietinger.
Fujinon Cambrio Zooms Available at New Zero Percent Financing Program

FUJINON’s PL 14-35mm lens is the latest development in the company’s popular Cabrio series, which includes the recently introduced Premier PL 85-300 mm, as well as the established PL 19-90. Introduced at IBC in mid-September last year, the 14-35mm Cabrio wide-angle lens is lightweight, easy to use with today’s 4K cameras, and is a fast T2.9 with 200-degree focus rotation. It’s ideal for shooters looking for a lightweight zoom that can be used as a handheld. It has a detachable digital servo drive and can be used as a self-contained ENG-style lens or as a cine style lens.
The PL 14-35 lens offers exceptional optical performance in the center of the image and in the corners of the frame. The digital servo’s 16-bit encoding assures operators that all lens meta data output—including the position of the zoom, iris, and focus—is extremely accurate. The PL 14-35 lens supports Lens Data System (LDS) and /i metadata formats, All Cabrio lenses can be controlled using cinema industry standard accessories, wireless controllers, as well as existing FUJINON wired and wireless units.
The high-performance FUJINON PL 85-300 Cabrio zoom lens was designed using the latest optical simulation technology, offering exceptional optical performance in both the center of the image and in the corners of the frame. The PL 85-300’s longer lens makes it ideal for professional cinematographers and videographers. The PL 85-300 is similar in weight and size to the other Cabrio lenses, and starts at a fast T2.9
The lightweight and compact PL 19-90 Cabrio weighs only 2.85kg including servo motors, this lens has the longest focal range available in a light weight zoom . Cinematographers will be right at home with these lenses. With the detachable drive removed, the lens is set to accept industry standard cine motors and matte boxes. Plus, the lens has all the data output that appeals to a Cine-style shooter.
