AFL’s LA KISS to Broadcast Games on KCAL 9

KCAL 9, Southern California’s leading independent television station, will broadcast eight LA KISS 2014 regular season games. The LA KISS of the Arena Football League kick off their inaugural season in March. KCAL will begin coverage with the team’s second home game against the Cleveland Gladiators on April 12. The deal provides KCAL broadcast rights to five home games and three road games through July.

kcal9“We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with the legendary Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley and help them reintroduce Arena Football to Southern California,” said Steve Mauldin, President and General Manager, KCAL 9 and CBS 2. “Clearly, these are people who have mastered the art of showmanship and we look forward to providing our viewers with a front row seat to the inaugural season of L.A. KISS Football through our game broadcasts and coverage during our SPORTS CENTRAL sports newscasts.”

Collectively, KCAL 9 and sister station CBS 2 are the home of the region’s largest local TV news organization. In addition to several newscasts, including KCAL 9 News at 10 p.m., the most-watched primetime newscast in Southern California, KCAL also features SPORTS CENTRAL.

“Working with the pinnacle TV station in LA and one that would contribute significantly to promote LA KISS is a big win and certainly the ideal home for the team’s broadcasts,” said LA KISS President, Schuyler Hoversten.  “This partnership provides LA KISS with the opportunity to introduce a broader audience to something that will captivate the Southern California region.  From the fast paced, high scoring, in your face action of the game to a live experience designed by two of the best entertainers of all-time, our games will provide fans and the viewers at home something they have never seen before.”

The LA KISS is the newest team in the AFL, founded in partnership between rock legends Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS, AFL veteran, Brett Bouchy and entertainment mogul Doc McGhee. The team’s home games will be played at the Honda Center and feature fast-paced football action and unrivaled pre-game and half-time entertainment.
