Father and Son Share Teaching Position and Passion for Video Production

A feel good Father’s Day story from yakimaherald.com:

As a kid, Ryan Broom often tagged along when his father went to work at the radio station or the television studio or fixing arcade games or running lighting for shows at the Capitol Theatre.

“He had the coolest jobs I had ever seen,” Ryan, of Yakima, said of his father, Moe Broom. “It’s the kind of stuff that brought me into the job I do now.”

Literally.

Moe spent 19 years teaching at Yakima Valley Technical Skills Center, first electronics and then video production based on his experience working at local television stations. In high school, Ryan took his father’s classes.

When Moe took a new job as a school administrator, he convinced Ryan, who was working for a Portland television station, to apply for his teaching job at YV-Tech.

“The only reason he got hired was so they didn’t have to change the name on the door,” Moe joked. “Keep it easy for everyone.”
