This Star Wars-like 360-degree video can be seen from different angles

ScienceAlert.com.au reports that after eight years of hard work, scientist turned artist Chris Helson and his partner, Sarah Jackets, have built what seemed impossible: a machine that generates 3D images that can be viewed from any angle. Current holographic technologies have only been able to generated 2D images that have to be viewed from the front.

The moving images aren’t a 3D hologram. The UK inventors describe them as “360-degree moving video objects apparently floating in space”. And besides looking amazingly cool, the 360-degree video object could have many industrial applications, including 3D drawings, computer assisted design, and mesh models.
